Why Don’t The Deputies Just Take The Pay Cut?

Why don’t Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies just take the 3% pay cut?

Because if the deputies settle for less, then we all do.

Less accountability by our County Executive and County Board,

Less fiscal responsibility,

Even less prioritizing of how our tax dollars are spent!

Deputies took a 5% cut in pay in June with the understanding that the 2010 budget wouldn’t try to balance the spending plan on the backs of county employees.

Instead taxpayers got more spending, higher taxes, and county workers were ordered to take another pay cut. And the County Executive says that’s fair for everyone.

If it doesn’t stop now, when will it?

So that’s why the deputies won’t take a pay cut.  We won’t settle for less, and neither should you!
